Bubble Bar Testing!

Posted by Leeana O'Cain

I have been so fascinated with bubble bars lately! I could look though pictures of them on Instagram and watch videos of them on YouTube for hours. I have so many ideas and designs for them that I have been wanting to test out. I was so shocked when my husband got me a bubble bar kit for Christmas. I could hardly wait to test them out. It came with everything I needed!

The kit included:

     • (1) 1 lb - Lathanol LAL Powder
     • (11) 1 Piece - Premium Crystal Cello Bags (2.5" x 2" x 6")
     • (1) 0.125 lb (2 fl. oz) - Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil 240
     • (1) 0.125 lb (2 oz) - Vanilla Color Stabilizer
     • (2) 0.125 lb (2 oz) - Cornstarch - Pure
     • (2) 0.125 lb (2 oz) - Bubble Bar Hardener
     • (1) 1 lb - Glycerin - Natural
     • (1) 1 Piece - Beaker - Natural Polypropylene
     • (1) 0.125 lb (2 oz) - Castor Oil
     • (1) 0.03 Pack (1/2 oz) - Natural Raffia
     • (1) 0.125 lb (2 oz) - Poppy Seeds
     • (1) 1 lb - Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
     • (2) 1 Piece - Droppers - Plastic
     • (1) 1 Piece - Instruction Sheet
     • (1) 1 Piece - Mask - Basic Procedures
     • (1) 2 Piece - Gloves Vinyl (Medium) - Low Powder
     • (1) 1 Each - Hairnets - 21 inch Disposable
     • (1) 1 Piece - Scoop - 0.15 ml (Micro Size)

These items were not included but were required:

     • (1) Measuring Cup / Mixing Bowl
     • (1) Measuring Spoons
     • (1) Wire Whisk
     • (1) Measuring Spoons
     • (1) Knife

I started out mixing all of the dry ingredients.

(Side Note: Yes! I am wearing 2 Fitbits. That is because I was constantly telling my husband that his is broken and counting more steps then mine. ;) He let me wear it one day to prove a point!)

Now it is time to mix the wet ingredients!

Don't forget the vanilla bean fragrance.

After adding the wet ingredients I topped the mixture with poppy seeds and started blending everything together.

They came out so cute! I molded them into a marshmallow shape. I can't wait for them to dry so I can use one. If you want to make your own bubble bars you can find the kit at Wholesale Supplies Plus or keep an eye out for them on our website very soon!

Behind the scenes look at LoveLeeSoaps

Posted by Leeana O'Cain in behind the scenes

I am so excited to share this behind the scene post where LoveLeeSoaps products are made! With my crazy Pinterest fueled design ideas and handiwork of my husband we were able to convert a bedroom into a colorful soap studio.

I had a similar post up on a old blog awhile back and everyone really seemed to enjoy it so I decided to bring it back. I will do my best to include links to things. A lot of decorations are from Valentine's Day at Target a few years back so they are no longer available.

Before having the soap studio I made and packaged orders in the same room. Now that I expanded I have a separate space for making product and packaging/shipping. My goal was to have everything I use to make soap in one space and packaging supplies in the other. It has made production so much smoother!

When I started thinking about paint I knew I wanted bright yellow and a chalk wall. I was also inspired (by Pinterest of course!) to give my best shot at different colored stripes.

The stripes turned out so much better than I expected! It was trial and error but I am so happy with the end result. If you are thinking about painting stripes I definitely recommend spending a little extra and using FrogTape. The other tapes that I tried would fall off or the paint would end up bleeding. I used the blue paint I had left over from the stripes to create an ombre effect in the closet. With each area I just added white paint to make gradually it lighter.

I also bought four cheap frames and used extra paint to match my logo colors.

Once they were finished I printed my designs and hung them on the wall.

Now it is time to fill the closet!

The top white containers hold different types of salt for salt bars. I used smaller decorative glass jars to hold sprinkles, oatmeal, and glitter. The larger jars are from Walmart they hold sugar, making soda, citric acid, and kaolin clay.

On this smaller shelf I originally put packing tape but moved those to the packaging room and replaced it with colorful heart shaped mixing bowls. (They are from Target along with the heart measuring spoons but I don't think they are available anymore. These colorful l bowls I found from Target are also really cute though! --> Link

The glass jar with heart handle holds rubber gloves and I use the smaller bowls for mixing powder colors.

I later decided to get heart shaped chalk labels off Etsy to put on the jars. I used chalk pens from Amazon

to write on the labels and chalk wall. They work really well!

When it came time to get counter tops I choose the brightest red I could find! You should have seen the mans face at Lowes when I told him that is what I wanted.

The top shelf is from Ikea holds soap colors. Underneath is a curtain wire and small curtain hooks that I clipped baskets on. They now hold more colors and mixer attachments. In the middle are two red hanging cups that hold pipettes and popsicle sticks. Below that are two large crock pots that melt big blocks of soap.

On the other side I used the same shelves to store all of my scents. They fit so nicely and I like how I can easily see all of the labels.

Next thing on the list was curtains. This was probably the thing I searched for most. I just couldn't find anything that was bright and colorful enough to match the room. I finally decided to custom make my own fabric from Spoonflower. It was really fun and easy to do! Have you ever made anything on Spoonflower?

I had so much fun designing my soap space and couldn't be happier with the way that it turned out. I always look so forward to working in there.

I hope you enjoyed this behind the scene look! If you would like to see a post with a behind the scenes look at my packaging / shipping room comment below!

Fall Footsies Have Arrived!

The Fall footsie pumice scrubs have arrived! The pumice scrub footsies have become so popular since they were first released. I was so happy when so many of you requested that I make them in Fall scents. Don't tell anyone but I just might be making them in cozy Winter scents as well. These soap scrubs are packed with pumice. The pumice is great for a mild exfoliation on rough skin areas. The Fall scents include pumpkin spice, toasted marshmallow, and cinnamon vanilla. Comment if you have a Winter pumice footsie scent request!
